Did you know that the Pirate (Galleon) Ship of Puerto Vallarta is 100% Mexican?

By

The Pirate Ship in Puerto Vallarta is an exact replica of the Santamaría Galleon, reminding you that the name Santa María was the name given to the Galleon in which Christopher Columbus sailed to reach America.

Many people think that the Pirate Galleon was built in Spain, England, the United States, or in some old-world country, but they are totally wrong because the Pirate Galleon was built in Alvarado, Veracruz (Mexico) by Mexican artisans and Mexican materials and funds.

Mexican carpenters began building the Pirate Ship in 1980 and finished it in 1987, from the start Captain Vital Alzar had the idea and the initiative to build this beautiful vessel.

The first trip made by the Pirate Ship was from Mexico to Spain, to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America in advance. From Spain, the ship returned to Mexico and from there it crossed the Panama Canal to reach the Port of Acapulco. Afterward, it made a fantastic journey from Acapulco to Japan to commemorate the 100th anniversary of trade relations between Mexico and Japan, tracing the Nao route.

The Pirate Ship circled around the world two and a half times, carrying a message of peace, love, and friendship.

In 1994, the Pirate Ship arrived in Puerto Vallarta Jalisco and this port became its home, so for more than 26 years the Galleon has been in this beautiful Mexican Port, doing 2 Tours daily just to show all the tourists of the World the magic of the Mexican people.
